Local author Mary K. Shepherd will guest host Story Times on Wednesday, September 25th at 10:30am and 1:30pm, and Thursday, September 26th at 10:30am. She will read and sign her new book The Adventures of Molly and Her Dollies. Children will participate in a tea party, just like Molly and her Dollies.
Mary K. Shepherd is also the illustrator of The Adventures of Molly and Her Dollies. She has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught pre-K for over thirteen years. She took a break from teaching to become a stay-at-home mom to reaise her two children. She enjoys baking, crafts, the outdoors and spending time with her family. She would write, illustrate, laminate, and bind stories for her children as birthday gifts. She would read and tell her children bedtime stories each night. Then one day she decided to write, illustrate and self-publish a book. The process took about two and a half years from start to finish with some help from her brother with drawing the faces. They are the most difficult. That is how The Adventures of Molly and Her Dollies came about. During the process her son Benjamin woke up one morning and said, “Mommy, I had a dream our book was in my library at school.” Mary told him she would make that dream come true.
The book is about Molly’s adventures with her two dollies. The dollies come to life, but nobody can see or hear them except Molly. Join the fun as they make gingerbread play dough cookies and have a tea party. The girls try to rescue Alligator and Turtle before Molly’s big brother gets home from school.
The Adventures of Molly and Her Dollies is available in some local stores, on Amazon, and can be ordered from Barnes and Noble. If you would like her to read for your story time at school or daycare, you can contact Mary via email: email@example.com. Please like and share on Pinterest and Facebook. Pre-orders can be picked up during signings. There will also be signings at the Utica Public Library on October 12th at 11:30am.
